La Caille Proposal photos: salt lake city

I had the honor to capture a picturesque love story milestone that unfolded under the beautiful La Caille Estate in Holladay, Utah

Nestled on 20 elegant acres at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon, La Caille boasts a legacy of over 45 years of excellence. As a seasoned Utah photographer, every visit to this wedding venue feels like stepping into a fairytale – the quintessential canvas for weaving love stories.

Tom reached out to me and my business partner to help him capture a surprise proposal in Utah for his girlfriend, Natalie. His criteria were clear – a romantic setting that showcased the Wasatch Mountains and was easily accessible for subsequent celebrations.

La Caille Estate proved to be the perfect match.

If you're considering a surprise proposal at La Caille Estate, here's what you need to know:

  • You can reserve a time slot if you want to shoot on the grounds. You can do so by clicking here.

  • Due to limited reservation availability, we were only able to shoot at 2 PM, allowing an hour for set-up and shooting. Please be mindful of set-up and arrival times based on your reserved time.

    • The La Caille staff were friendly and went above and beyond by sending photos of different areas of the estate in advance.

      • This included the best-shaded spots for shooting and the most romantic locations based on their seasons and events calendar. This made selecting the perfect spot for the proposal incredibly easy.

    Setting the Romantic Scene:

Shannon and I convinced Tom that we could smoothly encourage Natalie to volunteer as a 'model couple' for a romantic date picnic shoot. Given our focus on the tablescapes business, we saw this as a subtle way to craft a personalized scene for the couple, tailored to their relationship, all without giving away the surprise.

  • Warm-Up Time: Allocate at least 20 minutes of shooting time to get the couple comfortable in front of the camera and build intimacy for the big moment.

  • Personal Touch: Ask questions that bring out the love in the air. In our case, we inquired about their favorite things about each other and what they adore most about their relationship, setting a lovely mood.

  • Bring Props: Elevate the scene with props. We curated a romantic white sheet picnic with faux chardonnay (as alcohol isn't allowed for shoots), along with accent pieces to highlight La Caille's European features and breathtaking mountain views.

Best places for proposal props:

  • HomeGoods in Park City, Utah

  • Utah Wedding Facebook Groups (Former brides who are selling venue props)

  • Midvale, Utah Saver’s
