Tillie & Jacob’s Intimate Timber Creek Overlook Elopement

Deep in Zion National Park’s Kolob Canyon

Tillie and Jacob chose to say their vows in a spot that feels like a secret — Timber Creek Overlook, tucked away in the less-traveled Kolob Canyon area of Zion National Park.

If you’re picturing the iconic towering red cliffs and vast canyon views Zion is known for, Timber Creek delivers that in spades — but with a little more privacy, a little less hustle. It’s one of Zion’s official ceremony locations, perfect for couples wanting that national park magic without the crowds.

Their Day at Timber Creek Overlook

The morning started calm and joyful. Tillie and Jacob’s glam squad, led by makeup artist Sierra Stewart (@beautybybueno), worked their magic while the moms shared laughs and happy tears. The florals, expertly crafted by KB Floral Designs, felt wild but perfectly suited for the desert landscape.

By late afternoon, everyone piled into cars and drove through Zion’s Kolob Canyon entrance — a quieter gateway into the park that sets the tone for a more intimate experience.

We arrived at Timber Creek Overlook trailhead just before sunset, greeted by the fresh canyon air and endless views. Their officiant, Mikey from Zion Weddings, guided Tillie and Jacob through vows that were heartfelt and real — no scripts, no distractions.

With their parents there to witness, the ceremony was intimate and emotional. Then came golden hour portraits with the sun dipping behind the cliffs, capturing the kind of raw, unfiltered moments that make an elopement unforgettable.

Why Timber Creek Overlook in Zion?

Timber Creek is one of the few permitted spots in Zion National Park where you can legally have a ceremony. It’s a quick walk from the parking area, making it accessible for couples and family alike. The max guest count is 20, which keeps things feeling cozy.

Plus, because it’s located in the Kolob Canyon section, it tends to be less crowded than Zion’s main canyon areas — a major win for couples who want privacy and those dramatic views. To learn more on Zion Wedding permits click here.
